The Pattern

Here are the instructions on how to create the box:

  • ch 2 at the beginning of rounds 1-3 does not count as dc.
  • ch 1 at the beginning of rounds 4-10 does not count as sc.

Box

With green yarn, follow these rounds:

R1: [ch 2, 10 dc] in magic ring, slst in first dc (10)
R2: ch 2, [dc in same stitch] x 10, slst in first dc (20)
R3: ch 2, [dc in same stitch] x 20, slst in first dc (40)
R4: ch 1, bpsc in all, slst to first stitch (40)
R5-10: ch 1, sc in all, slst in first stitch (40)

Fasten off

Lid

Next, let’s move on to the lid of the box:

Repeat rounds 1 to 3 from box.

For the next rounds:

R4: ch 1, bphdc in all, slst to first stitch (40)
R5: ch 1, sc in all, slst in first stitch (40)

Do not fasten off and leave a long tail to sew to box.

Stuff the box and put the lid on top. Sew round 5 from lid to round 9 from box.

Ribbon and Label

For the finishing touches:

With red yarn, crochet several chains until the length is about 50 cm. Wrap it around the box and make a bow at the top.

For the label, use white yarn and follow these rounds:

R1: ch 10, turn (10)
R2: ch 1, sc in 2nd loop from hook, sc in remaining chains, turn (9)
R3: ch1, sc in 2nd loop from hook, sc in remaining stitches, turn (9)
R4: ch1, sc in 2nd loop from hook, sc in remaining stitches (9)

Fasten off and sew to lid.

And there you have it! A beautiful, handmade Christmas ornament. This Christmas gift box is sure to add a touch of charm to your tree. Happy crocheting!
